Supernatural Intelligence
By Dan McCollam
In today’s fast-paced, results-driven world, it can be easy to compartmentalize our lives—placing work and faith, including the supernatural, into separate categories. However, a growing number of people are discovering that the marketplace, where they spend the majority of their time, is a ripe field for spiritual impact.
One powerful way to bridge the gap between faith and work is by embracing the spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit, particularly the word of wisdom. This gift, mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12, enables us to receive divine insight, which can help us navigate complex situations, make decisions, and solve problems in ways that reflect God’s wisdom.
Let’s explore how the supernatural can manifest in your workplace and daily life, transforming both the mundane and the monumental into opportunities for Kingdom impact.
1. Make Proverbs Your Daily Companion
The book of Proverbs is an excellent source of practical wisdom. Reading one chapter of Proverbs daily will provide you with a continual supply of godly counsel. As you meditate on these scriptures, consider how they apply to your work and personal life. Write down insights and observations, and actively look for ways to implement them in your decisions and interactions.
2. Let Love Be Your Motivation
If you want to manifest the supernatural in the marketplace, it has to start with love. 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us that without love, even the most spectacular spiritual gifts are meaningless. Love should be your guiding principle—whether that means showing compassion to a struggling colleague, helping someone in need, or creating solutions that serve others rather than just boosting profits.
3. Be Open to Divine Ideas and Solutions
In your work, you will encounter problems that human wisdom struggles to solve. These are prime opportunities to tap into the supernatural. Be open to receiving “God ideas”—divine inspirations that go beyond conventional thinking. God’s wisdom can lead you to solutions that no one else has considered. When you receive these ideas, share them with humility, and watch how they transform situations around you.
4. Apply the Word of Wisdom to Solve Problems
The word of wisdom is a gift that equips you to provide insight into difficult situations. In the marketplace, this could look like offering a fresh perspective in a board meeting, finding an innovative solution to a technical problem, or guiding a team through a complex challenge. Pray for the word of wisdom before making decisions—especially when the stakes are high—and trust that God will give you clarity.
5. Shine Your Light
Matthew 5:16 encourages us to “let your light shine before others.” In the marketplace, this could mean showing excellence in your work, integrity in your dealings, and compassion in your relationships. Your work can be a reflection of God’s character, showing others the power and grace that come from living a Spirit-led life. When people notice your light, be prepared to share the source—your faith in Christ.
6. Build a Network of Like-Minded Believers
Walking this path can sometimes feel lonely, especially if you work in a secular environment. That’s why it’s important to build a network of support—other believers who are committed to manifesting the supernatural in their work. Find or create a community where you can encourage and pray for one another. This fellowship will strengthen you and keep you focused on your mission.
7. Practice Gratitude and Generosity
A heart of gratitude opens the door for God’s supernatural blessings to flow through you. Regularly thank God for the opportunities He’s given you in your work, and be generous with your time, resources, and talents. Look for ways to bless others, whether through acts of kindness, financial support, or mentorship. The more you give, the more God will pour into your life, allowing you to be a conduit of His supernatural power.
Conclusion
The supernatural in the marketplace is about bringing the wisdom, love, and power of God into every area of your life where you can influence others and create lasting impact. By cultivating spiritual gifts like the word of wisdom, seeking divine ideas, and applying God’s principles to your work, you’ll begin to see transformation not only in your life, but in the lives of those around you. Your job is not just a place where you earn a paycheck; it’s a mission field, ripe for the supernatural.
